ICON homes are designed to reach the stringent standards laid down by the Building Research Establishment's (BRE) EcoHomes system. EcoHomes Excellent standard is the most energy efficient rating and we have made enormous efforts to make sure the homes meet the criteria required to reach this level.
It is a holistic approach that takes into account the construction process, impact on the surrounding environment, the health and well-being of residents as well as the source of building materials used and the actual "carbon footprint" of the homes once they are being lived in.
ECOHOMES CRITERIA
EcoHomes ratings are based on a "points" system to determine which level a development meets. In designing ICON we took the following into account:
Including CO2 emissions, kitchen appliances and lighting.
To public transport, cycle stores and provision for working at home.
During construction and when homes are in use.
Use of timber from sustainable sources, recycling waste, A-rated construction materials.
Reduced internal and external consumption.
We have conserved and improved wherever possible the ecology of the site.
Designing homes to have plenty of light, good sound insulation and private outdoor space where possible.
