SUSTAINABILITY
A sustainable home is designed and built using as many materials from renewable resources as possible. In addition, when occupied it should, through insulation, modern lighting, energy saving white goods and electricity drawn from (where possible) renewable energy sources, reduce its resident's need to use electricity produced by fossil burning power stations.
At ICON you will live more ecologically and more economically without even realising it. The high levels of insulation, air-tightness, quality of heating and ventilation, energy efficient lighting and appliances, and new technologies such as solar-heated water and heat recovery systems, all make for homes that are comfortable, economical and low in CO2 output. We calculate that ICON homes will provide energy savings of 44% and a 43% reduction in CO2 emissions, compared to conventionally designed and
built homes.
